Tourism Canada’s most western province isn’t known as Beautiful British Columbia for no reason. As a world-class tourist destinations that employ over 115,000 and hosts over 22.5 million overnight visits per year generating $9.8 billion annually, B.C. enjoys a reputation as being a real destination for tourists. Aggressive global marketing, along with 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are building increased awareness and brand recognition for B.C.’s uniquely attractive products. Taking a closer look one can see that the well-developed tourism infrastructure features some of the best resources and highly regarded destinations in North America, such as Whistler. The tourism industry workforce has strong roots in its people as the advanced education system that is made up of over 79 tourism industry programs produces approximately 3,600 graduates per year. The provincial government in extremely committed and has exhibited this by investing $1.3 billion to improve transportation infrastructure and provide greater access to province for visitors along with additional funds to boost marketing initiatives
